Michael de Nostredame, the famous chemist and apothecary from the 16th century has written a book called The Prophecies. This book is a collection of almost 1,000 four-line verses that are commonly known as “quatrains”. These verses somehow seem to predict the future. Nostradamus is indeed famous for having visions at a very early age: he used to just stare into a bowl with water, and just after a while later, he would ‘receive’ visions of the future.
His followers are saying that this apothecary was actually able to predict many things that have happened in the last few centuries. Some of them are: Adolf Hitler’s rise to power, the French revolution and also 9/11.
Some people believe that he also predicted the Trump’s presidential win:
“The great shameless, audacious bawler. He will be elected governor of the army: The boldness of his contention. The bridge was broken, the city faint from fear.”
It is really important to have in mind that these 4-line verse prophecies are quite open to interpretation. A lot of people think that almost all of his past predictions that turned to be accurate are nothing more than just modern misinterpretations. But also, there are some people that are arguing that some verses could shed some light on what we can actually expect from the year that follows. So, let’s take a look at these 7 verses for 2018:
1. FLOODS AND DROUGHT
For forty years the rainbow will not be seen.
For forty years it will be seen every day.
The dry earth will grow more parched,
and there will be great floods when it is seen.
2. THUNDER AND CONFLICT
The great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt.
An evil deed, foretold by the bearer of a petition.
According to the prediction another falls at night time.
Conflict at Reims, London, and pestilence in Tuscany.
3. A BATTLE AT SUNSET
Shortly before sun set, battle is engaged.
A great nation is uncertain.
Overcome, the sea port makes no answer,
the bridge and the grave both in foreign places.
4. A LITTLE BREAK
Pestilences extinguished, the world becomes smaller,
for a long time, the lands will be inhabited peacefully.
People will travel safely through the sky (over) land and seas:
then wars will start up again.
5. A ROYAL SCANDAL
Letters are found in the queen’s chests,
no signature and no name of the author.
The ruse will conceal the offers;
so that they do not know who the lover is.
6. A WEIRD VERSION OF ANIMAL FARM
A fox will be elected without speaking one word,
appearing saintly in public living on barley bread,
afterward, he will suddenly become a tyrant
putting his foot on the throats of the greatest men.
7. A WEAKENED WEST
Twice put up and twice cast down,
the East will also weaken the West.
It’s adversary after several battles
chased by sea will fail at the time of need.
So, what do you think? Are predictions even possible? If they are not, how would you explain the existence of this man and all the accurate predictions that he managed to guess during his life?
